Fasting and Feasting | Ep. 107

Fasting and Feasting | Ep. 107

Episode 107

Lent starts tomorrow! Lent is the period of 40 days (excluding Sundays) leading up to Easter. While Scripture does not command believers to observe Lent, we talk about how (like Advent) it can be a time to prepare our hearts to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We also talk about how Lent is often associated with fasting. Fasting is not unique to Christianity. In fact, it’s a practice that transcends religions and cultures. However, we believe there is a unique spiritual purpose behind Christian fasting that is beautiful. As we explore fasting from a biblical perspective, we see how it is often associated with feasting. It is not simply abstaining from something; Christian fasting is motivated by the greater desire to say “yes” to what is better: more of God.

Whether or not you observe Lent, we believe this conversation on Christian fasting and feasting will encourage you on your journeys to glorify God. Fasting is a spiritual discipline that is for every believer. Even if you have health conditions, we believe that you can benefit from the richness of fasting by saying “no” to something other than food! It’s not about adhering to a specific methodology; it’s about pursuing a greater affection for Christ!
