Learning from Our Differences with Kristie Anyabwile | Ep. 70
On today’s episode, we are thrilled to have Kristie Anyabwile join us! Kristie is wife to Thabiti, and mama to three children She is also a Bible teacher at Anacostia River Church in the DC area, and the Assistant Director of Women’s Workshops at The Charles Simeon Trust, which is an organization that trains Bible expositors. Kristie shares her wisdom on the topic of learning from those in the body of Christ who are different from us. It’s no surprise that our world is diverse. People come from different cultures, are shaped by different experiences and life circumstances, uphold various preferences, and dive into a myriad of passions. Even within the body of Christ, there are a wide range of personalities! It’s also no surprise that we can experience tension in light of these differences. Sometimes, this tension can give way to conflict that can cause division. Kristie offers us helpful words and practical advice as to how we can embrace our differences and actually navigate the tension that can arise from our differences. The power of the gospel is that, in Christ, people of all tribes, nations, and tongues can be united, and this unity in diversity actually gives us a foretaste of what’s to come in eternity!
Be sure to check out the book Kristie edited called His Testimonies, My Heritage. It is a beautiful collection of works written by women of color, and the devotions are a faithful exposition of Psalm 119! Also, follow Kristie on Instagram (@kristieanyabwile) and Twitter (@kanyabwile).
