Learning the Voice of God | Ep. 87
On today’s episode, we talk about the voice of God. What do we mean when we say we can “hear” the voice of God? Are we talking about an audible voice coming from a burning bush or mysterious writing on a wall? Is it possible for believers today to actually know the voice of God? Yes! In this episode, we talk about how we can truly learn the voice of God as we read and study His Word. We talk about how we can familiarize ourselves with the tone of God’s voice and get to know His nuances as we diligently study all of Scripture!
There are a lot of voices in this world that want to tell us what to think, do, and believe. And the thing is, on many issues, there isn’t even a unified Christian view (think politics, school choice, family size, etc.). While we understand that Scripture leaves some gray matters to personal conscience, we believe it is important for each of us to go to God’s Word and have our consciences informed directly by Scripture. While there is value in secondary resources, like Christian books, commentaries, and podcasts, they become more harmful than helpful if they keep us from going to the primary source. We have to intentionally curate the voices we are listening to, and we want to make sure that God’s voice is the loudest and clearest in our hearts and minds.
Practically, we know it can be hard to cultivate that level of familiarity. We share some encouragement on how we can learn God’s voice, little by little. We also talk about how wisdom and discernment play a role in allowing God’s voice to be a guiding voice in our everyday lives. Come join us!
