O Come, O Come Emmanuel with Caroline Cobb | Ep. 45
On today’s episode, we are joined by singer-songwriter Caroline Cobb. Caroline walks us through a beloved Christmas hymn, “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. This is a hymn that is familiar to many of us; the melody warmly invites us into the Christmas season! But sometimes, the familiarity causes us to miss the richness of the actual words. Did you know that each verse in this hymn is paired with a different Messianic name? The hymn also upholds a dual purpose. On one hand, it reminds us of Israel’s longing for the Messiah and Christ’s first coming. On the other, it turns believers’ hearts today for Christ’s second coming when He will consummate God’s Kingdom and dwell with His people forever!
In this episode, Caroline graciously shares her rendition of this hymn, and it is absolutely beautiful! We then discuss the different verses and the Messianic names mentioned. This conversation enriched our understanding of this beloved hymn, and we are excited to share this unique episode with you and pray that it will do the same for you!
