Pursuing Biblical Friendships that Thrive | Ep. 63
On today’s episode, we talk about friendships. We all want deep, meaningful friendships. We see them in TV shows and movies, and we wish we could have a tight-knit community in real life, too. We have a deep desire for community because God designed us to live and grow in relationship with Him and each other. The Bible offers a vision of friendship that surpasses anything the media has to offer. Christian friendship goes beyond doing things 50/50 and giving each other affirmation and companionship. It goes beyond giving each other space to vent and commiserate. Christian friendship is actually an eternal bond offered by the blood of Christ. Our individual union with Christ unites us to each other, and there are so many implications! We serve each other sacrificially; we help each other grow in holiness; we call each other toward what Christ has called us to do, and more.
But how do we cultivate these Christian friendships? Where do we start? What are some practical things we can do? We know it doesn’t just happen automatically. We aren’t saved and then suddenly embedded in deep relationships. There are barriers that can prevent us from having real-life, gospel-centered friendships! In this episode, Joanna and Stefanie explore the elements of Christian friendship, and they also offer practical ways for believers to seek out these friendships with fellow believers.
