This is His Year: Bible Study Goals for the New Year | Ep. 100

On today’s episode, we briefly reflect on 2020 and consider how our time in God’s Word was affected by the unique circumstances of this past year. It’s no doubt that every single one of us has experienced some difficulty this past year due to unforeseen circumstances. It has been hard, and we may be tempted to call 2020 a “wash”! But if we are willing to pause and reflect, we can see many of God’s graces that can help us as we move into the next year. For one thing, many of us often tell ourselves that we’d read the Bible more if we “just had more time”. But during this global pandemic when activities were shut down and stay-at-home orders were issued, we found that time wasn’t the real barrier to our personal Bible study. Many of us found that we actually neglected our time in God’s Word in 2020! Rather than feel guilt, we want to see this as a mercy as we go into 2021: time is not the issue! So what is? We discuss this, and then we offer very practical strategies that we can put into place for next year regarding our personal and corporate Bible study. In the end, 2020 was His year, and 2021 will be His year, no matter what may come!
