On today’s episode, we talk about Jesus being on every page of the Bible. We talk about what it means when we say that He is in every verse, every passage, every chapter, and every book of the Bible. We actually don’t mean that there’s a hidden reference to Jesus in literally every single verse. What we mean is: the whole Bible is pointing to Jesus. In the grand, unified Story of Scripture, He is the main character. Everything hinges on Him!
Approaching Scripture with this Christ-centered perspective makes BIble reading and Bible study even more life-giving. It also helps us make sense of some of the more complicated parts of Scripture, like the law, sacrifices, judgment, and the prophecies. If you’ve ever felt lost, confused, or overwhelmed with parts of the Old Testament, one reason may be because you’re not using the framework of Christ. Without this Christ-centered framework, it’s easy to think there’s a disconnect between the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament! But when we see Jesus in all of Scripture, we see even clearer how God really is unchanging.
In this episode, we talk about why seeing Christ in all of Scripture is important. But we also talk about how we can individually do this in our own Bible reading and studying. It takes practice to read Scripture in this way, and that’s okay! We go through practical steps you can take and explain what it means to use cross references, understand typology, and more. We also talk about a brand new resource from The Daily Grace Co. that goes more in depth in this process.
