I exalt you, my God the King,

and bless your name forever and ever.

I will bless you every day;

I will praise your name forever and ever.

Psalm 145:1–2

Do you struggle to feel connected to God when life is hard?

Do you struggle with connecting difficult Old Testament narratives to the gospel of Jesus Christ?

Do you wonder why David’s life is included in the greater story of Scripture?

As Christians, we strive to read the Bible from beginning to end. But it’s easy to feel disconnected from the events and characters in the Old Testament. Do they really point to God, His Son, and salvation? How?

David is one of the best examples we have in Scripture to answer that question.

Jesus is called the Son of David, but David was by no means perfect. His life was full of peaks and valleys–highs and lows in every way, both emotionally, physically, and spiritually. But when you learn to see David as a “type and shadow” of Jesus, the light of the gospel shines forth in his story—and enlightens yours as well.

Peaks and Valleys is a 6-week study that will equip you to:

  • Experience Jesus in the lows–and highs–in your life.

  • Understand typology and why we should use it as we study God’s Word.

  • Discuss David’s role as king and how key events in his life signify our need for Jesus Christ and point to Christ’s fulfillment through His saving work.

  • Find conviction and encouragement from the lessons of David’s life so that we can respond in light of the gospel.

Get Peaks and Valleys today, study the life of David for 6 weeks, and learn how to see Jesus throughout the Bible and in your story, in the highs and lows, in every season.

Really enjoying this study!

I am almost all the way through Peaks and Valleys, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. The most impactful part has been seeing how the life of David points to Christ - our true and better King. I really love diving into the highs and lows of David's life. Just yesterday I was journaling about how we see so much of David's humanity - yes, he loved the LORD and was after God's heart, but he was not perfect; David needed a Savior just as much as we do. It has been encouraging to me to continually see God's hand in David's life and I especially love reading a Psalm or two each week alongside the passages where David would have written those Psalms. The words because so much more impactful and many of the words David penned are words I am now praying as I walk through my own valley season. God is truly our portion in every high and low!!

Beautiful and uplifting

I have a problem looking to Christ in the highs and lows more often than not. I know that if I would, the lows would be much more bearable, and I would give God the glory in the highs. I know this, but I don't do it. This study is beautiful all around- esthetically and in the depth of the content. Definitely love... And the spiral is awesome. Glad that DGC started doing that.
