I was raised Protestant and in such a way that I cringe at all things Catholic. Having grown up and studied theology, religion, culture, and history, my feelings toward the Catholic faith have only intensified. As a result, I tend to shy away from anything and everything I feel has been tainted by their doctrine - the Lord's Prayer was one of those things. We rarely said it growing up and I don't ever remember hearing a sermon on it so I gave it a wide berth. In the Bible Study "When You Pray" they addressed the prayer and I began to breakdown my man-made apprehensions and "reclaim" the prayer for what Christ wanted it to be in my life. I did this study as a follow-up for myself and to deepen my understanding of the importance and beauty of this prayer. It was so redemptive for me in more ways than one!
