A Poem of Praise for the Blessings We Once Prayed For
By: Anteneshia Sanders
My petitions now materialized
My hands now holding tight
What I once knew only in the depths of my heart
That I now know by sight
I remember the darkness of longing
I remember the mocking of dusk
I remember storming the throneroom of Heaven
To lay hold of the One that I trust
And though He never answered audibly
He endowed me with endurance
Though He never promised me my every wish
He gifted me blessed assurance
So faith became the tearful refrain
To my abiding asking song
As I waited for what I longed for most
Though I did not know how long
Now faith upholds my blissful praise
As I behold what grace has shared
And recall the years that stumbled by
And how Jesus was always there
But I know had He never designated my dreams
If His answer would have been, “No.”
That He still would be worthy of all of my worship
For He is the God who knows
What a yearning heart really needs the most
Is a Savior who sees and cares
But I worship Him now
And forever for how
He graciously answered my prayer.
