A Prayer for Summer

Summer is here! A new season is upon us and summer is a fun one. During the summer, we get the opportunity to incorporate brand new rhythms into our lives. School is out, certain extracurriculars are completed, traveling increases, more family time is shared, and more.

Rather than abandoning our quiet time, we can dig into God’s Word | TDGC

Often, though, summer is where we lose our solid routines. Because our schedules are a bit more chaotic, the habits we have put in place can easily fall apart. This summer we want to challenge that; when it may be easy to let our quiet time habits fall apart, we want to encourage you to dig in even more. We pray that this season is restful and pushes us to grow in deeper intimacy with the Lord.

God is the Maker of all seasons | TDGC

Let’s pray together.

A Prayer for Summer

Lord, You are the Maker of all seasons.

You are the One who holds time.

You cause the seasons to come and go.

The season of summer is beginning.

Bless this summer.

Bless the slow moments and the busy ones.

Bless the exciting experiences and bless the difficult ones.

Pour out Your blessing so that this summer glorifies You.

Open my eyes to look to You.

Use any extra time I may have this summer

to grow me closer to You

and learn more about Your character.

Push me to dive deeper into Your Word.

Encourage me to pursue a relationship with You

that goes deeper than before.

Open my eyes to Your beauty.

Grant my soul rest.

Rest from being busy, from the difficulties of life,

and the wrestlings of my heart.

Help me seek that rest in You and You alone.

Be with me in the heat of this season.

Reveal Your presence on the pool days,

when we travel, and during the slow moments.

Amen.

Our hope and prayer for you is that this summer is one of rest and growth. We are praying that the Lord would bless you this summer and meet you where you are. His Word is rich and His character is good. Run to Him this summer; whether you are traveling, dropping kids off at VBS, or just sitting at home relaxing.
