Can We Trust Our Emotions? | Ep. 32
On today’s episode, we talk about our emotions. Our culture gives us mixed messages. On one hand, it tells us to follow our hearts and do what “feels right”. On the other hand, there’s an unspoken aversion for “emotional” people. But the bottom line is: God made us emotional beings. As His image bearers, we reflect a God of emotion. We see emotions identified throughout Scripture, even in Jesus. But in our own lives, we may not know what we’re supposed to do with our emotions. We’re not sure how to handle them. There seems to be a battle between the head (logic) and the heart (feelings). When we go to God’s Word, we see that our emotions can be shaped to align with God’s emotions. We can love, value, and hate the things that He loves, values, and hates. We can experience positive and negative emotions, and all emotions can lead us back to God. Our emotions actually deepen our intimacy with Him and other believers. Emotions can be tricky, but we’re not alone!
