Freedom from “What If?” | Ep. 59
On today’s episode, we talk about our tendency to ask “what if” questions. What if the worst case scenario happens? What if our family contracts COVID-19? What if the lump is cancer? What if I lose my job? What if she never starts walking or talking? How do we walk by faith in the midst of life’s many “what if’s”?
We believe the gospel offers us freedom from living with the “what if’s” ever before us. We don’t have to live in fear, and we don’t have to look to mindfulness meditation or empty platitudes or logic or reason to displace our fears. We know that in this life, many of our fears do become our reality. Sometimes, tragedy does strike. Sometimes, our world has to deal with a pandemic, and fear is palpable. But God’s people respond, not in fear, but in faith. God is sovereign, and He is good. We look back and see how He has proven Himself to be faithful, and we look forward and trust that He will continue to be faithful. We are not “what if” people; we are “even if” people.
