The Bible says in a number of places that God is jealous. In Exodus 34:14, it actually says His name is Jealous. What does this mean? Surely, this can’t be the jealousy that we experience. When we hear the word “jealous”, we automatically think about envy. When we’re jealous, we are envying someone, desiring what he or she has. Is this the same for God? Is He longing for something that isn’t rightfully His? How can He be holy and righteous and still be jealous in this way? Or is there a form of jealousy that isn’t sinful? Actually, yes. Jealousy can be sinful, but jealousy can be righteous.

There is a godly form of jealousy, and that is what our holy God exhibits. It’s actually an attribute of God that we see throughout the Bible. He is jealous for His glory; He is zealous for the devotion of His people. Understanding jealousy from a biblical perspective helps us know the heart and character of God more. It also helps us because as His image bearers, we can display this kind of godly jealousy, too. Yet, we so often experience sinful jealousy--in our homes, in our works, in our social circles (online and offline), and more. How can we image God and this righteous jealousy? We talk about all of this and more in this episode. Come join us!
