I began Craving Community at a time when I was so desperate for relationships, especially those that went beyond the surface. In fact, I am writing this only after completing the first week. I was eager to start upon learning that it would begin by talking about a friendship with Christ, only to be left with more questions as to what makes us friends. The reasons outlined talks about my faith being a reason and the example Jesus showed us as a friend. Again, I am left with just knowing that we are friends instead of understanding in my heart what makes us friends. That could also very well be where I am in life and maybe I just need to redefine my friendship with Christ and accept that it will look different than the picture in my head. Maybe I need to find peace with how our friendship looks for me. But, if nothing else, I have and will to ask myself the deeper questions, trying to pull back the layers to get a better understanding of my friendship with Christ and what makes us friends. For that reason alone, it’s a win!
